ヘレン・ケラー(1880-1968)は生後１９ヶ月の時に
熱病におかされ、視力と聴力を失いました。

定かではないのですが、

この熱病とは猩紅（しょうこう）熱か髄膜炎
だったと言われています。

７歳までに６０種類以上の独自の手話を
考案したそうです。

ヘレン・ケラーは婦人参政権や平和主義のための
政治的な運動で活躍しました。

この名言にも説得力があります。
